• Santa Advent Calendar

A Santa advent calendar made out of craft plywood sheets, chipboard, scrapbook paper and some other scrapbooking and craft supplies. Finished size approx. 7" x 10"

  • Step 1

Sketch out a Santa of your own or use pattern provided. (see link address below). Tranfer the outline of Santa's image onto a piece of 1/4" plywood using some tracing paper.

  • Step 2

After cutting out the body with a scroll saw. Cut the head and moustache out of 1/8" thick plywood, as shown.

  • Step 3

Transfer the image of the beard / face and the cuffs of Santa's suit onto some chipboard. Cut the pieces out using a craft knife.

  • Step 4

Cover the pieces of wood and chipboard with patterned paper as shown. The face was covered with a piece of kraft cardstock. As you can see, the wood and chipboard head / beard pieces were layered together to form one piece. Add a little glitter to the pom pom of the hat. Then use wood glue to glue all the pieces together.

  • Step 5

Next, cut out letters using a Silhouette digital cutter. If you don't have a cutting machice, letter stickers could be use instead. Add some glitter to your letters, then adhere them to Santa's beard.

  • Step 6

Mount a snowflake sticker onto some cardstock, then layer with a chipboard snowflake, a round sticker, holly (cut out from patterned paper) and some buttons.
Use some pearl stickers or brads to create the eyes and use a painted wooden ball for the nose. Glue everthing in place.

  • Step 7

Cut a rectangle out of 1/2" thick plywood for the base. You'll want the width to be the same width of the Santa, and it should be about 2 1/2" deep. Cover the top and sides of the base with patterned paper. Then adhere a border strip to the top egdes of the base. 4 round wood discs were then glued at the bottom base and painted black. The base was then glued to the front of the Santa using some wood glue.

  • Step 8

Cut out a gingerbread man using the Silhouette machine, then mounted it to some chipboard. Cut it out with a craft knife then apply some glitter. Tie some twine around his neck to make a scarf.

To attach the gingerbread man to Santa's hand drill a small hole into Santa's mitten and poke a small hole into the chipboard hand of the gingerbread man. Use thin wire to tie the hands together.

  • Step 9

The completed Santa stand should look like this.

  • Step 10

To finish the calendar, cover 2 (2") wood blocks with patterned paper. Then cut out the numbers for each side using the Silhouette.

Your'e now ready to begin counting down the days until Christmas! :)
