• Stuffed Peppers

    Thanks to Betty Crocker, I can enjoy these stuffed peppers anytime I get the craving! The recipe is easy to follow and the end result is delicious!

    Lets start with the ingredients:

    5-6 large bell peppers
    1 pound ground beef
    2 tablespoons chopped onion
    1 cup cooked rice
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/8 teaspoon garlic salt *
    1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
    3/4-1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

    * we like garlic! I used real garlic and about 4 cloves in my recipe.

    I would start the rice and the ground meat at the same time. Since I was using real garlic, I added it here to cook with the meat. Brown the meat, onion and garlic. Drain off fat.

    while the rice and meat are cooking, prepare the peppers. cut a thin slice from the stem end of each pepper. Remove the seeds and membranes.

    when the meat has finished cooking, add 1 cup of the tomato sauce, salt (also the garlic salt if using that instead of real garlic) and the rice. heat until hot.

    Cook the peppers in boiling water to cover; about 5 minutes; drain.

    Stand the peppers upright in the square baking dish. Stuff the peppers with the meat mixture. Pour remaining tomato sauce over the peppers. Cover and cook 45 minutes in 350 degree oven.

    Remove from oven, uncover and add the cheese. Bake 15 minutes longer, uncovered. They will be very hot when you remove them from the oven. I suggest you let them cool for about 15 minutes.
